In today's article, from April 20, 1944, we learn another Japanese Prisoner of War was safe and in good health. Like Sgt. Wilmer N. Baker, mentioned in the March 23 post, Sgt. Henry B. "Buck" Wehner joined the US Air Force in 1939 and was captured after the fall of the Philippines in 1942. Upon his release from the Hoten POW Camp in Manchuria in 1945, Wehner remained in the US Air Force for 24 years, retiring in 1964. He married in 1946 and moved to Arizona in 1949. He was a former motor vehicle theft investigator for the Arizona Department of Transportation and ran for the Goodyear, Arizona Town Council in 1983. While he advanced from the primaries, he lost in the general election to William Kelly. Wehner passed away in 1987 from leukemia at the age of 68.
