Today's post contains two articles from April 13, 1944. The first is the notes that Marshal Ed Shields will be going around to distribute dog tags and collect the tax for them. The second article lists the results of the most recent Red Cross fundraising campaign. To put these numbers in perspective, $1,625.23 would be $28,656.31 in today's dollars. The dog tax would be $17.63 for male dogs and $52.90 for female dogs. Current fees are $26.25 for an unaltered dog/cat and $13.25 for a spayed/neutered dog/cat.
