by This is the first in hopefully a weekly series highlighting the history of Ralston. My plan is to post a story I find interesting from the Ralston Recorder from 80 years ago. Why 80 years? I'm using newspapers.com for the source of the clippings, and it only goes back to 1940 (the paper itself appears to only go back a little further than that when it was published by the Junior Women's Club). Doing "80 years ago today" seemed to make more sense than "84 years ago today" and waiting until next March to start.
Attached is the banner and an article from that first available edition from March 1, 1940. I'll publish an article from October 7, 1943, on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
